World Series

For those who didn't know, the Houston Astros made the world series this year. As shayla's typing this they're finishing up the pre-game show in Minute Maid Park, before the 3rd game of the series.

Shayla'd never been to a baseball game before she came to her Master's. He's taken her to a couple games this year. Both times the Astros won. Watching a baseball game is tremendously different than seeing one on television. You see more, you've got a more clear idea about how the game works and how the players act in different situations. It's a learning experience.

The past couple months have been a bit tough for this area of the country. First Katrina slammed into New Orleans, and just as Houston was settling down with absorbing all the people that came from New Orleans, Rita hit.

Shayla's still considered a Yankee by a few people that know her. Master will still occasionally tease her about it. And she doesn't know much about baseball. But even she can tell that this area needed this series. Needed the excitement, the success, the Championship.

There had always been something that has drawn shayla to Texas. She doesn't know if it's the fact that her mother was born in Fort Worth, or that she still had family in that area. But she's always been drawn down here. And she's awfully glad that she is here. The people are wonderful. Sincerely friendly, hospitable, good-hearted and up-front. And shayla's never seen civic pride like what she's seen here. This state is great. Even being here for just under a year, she can't imagine living anywhere else.
